So I just realized the last time I posted a blog entry was from January!. Way to be awesome and on top of blogging, Lindsay! Aren't you the one that is always dreaming of starting up blogs as you read others' with envy? You know how they got to be popular/fun/fantastic blogs? BY POSTING REGULARLY!
Whew, sorry for yelling at myself there! Anyway, ONE AGAIN I am going to try to get into the grind of daily/regular blogging. I mean it's not like I don't have plenty of time for it, I just always seem to lack the motivation. I never know what to write about!
So I suppose for now to try to get back into the game, I'll attempt to re-cap 2012 so far, which has for the most part been pretty great for me!
January:
So let's see....I did some pretty awesome nails:
On the 9th my brother left for six months of deployment. He's actually back now and coming to town for a couple weeks, but I won't get to see him. It's kind of a sore subject. :/
I went to the both Gasparilla parades, and I chalked my hair.
February:
I guess is the month that started my habit of going out to Ybor almost every single weekend. I bought these shoes to wear out one night:
...and then this happened:
I did some more awesome nails:
I went to the Florida State Fair where I tried ALL THE FOODS, but why do I not have any pictures?! I think I need a camera. I feel like a camera would be a 16 ounce reminder to document things, versus my phone which I always have on me so I never think to use. That's probably logical, right?
Also notable for February: I got two new tattoos!
That second one is a lyric from a song by the Kinks (Strangers) and I really love it and it has meaning to me, but I would suggest to anyone thinking of getting any sorts of words/phrase tattooed on them to really think about it because people will want to read it and they will often do it out loud in the most flat and monotone way that seems to suck all of the meaning out of it for you. Often times I am left feeling stupid after it it read out loud, and like I need to explain it to them when I should really be like, "fuck you man! I stand behind MY tattoo that I got for ME!"
March:
This was actually a pretty good month for me, and I actually managed to take some pictures!
On the second I won tickets to go to the Strawberry Festival in Plant City (dear lord that sound country!) which is basically a smaller version of the Florida State Fair, but I was super excited because Demi Lovato was performing! Everyone makes fun of me, but I love that girl. She's a great singer and she's been through some shit, I can respect that. However once we got into the little amphitheater where the concert was being held, there were too many cops and rules and it just wasn't fun. I can't handle going to a show where you aren't allowed to stand and wander. I'm way to ADD for that. So Layla and I (did I mention I brought Layla with me? She's always my plus one in a pinch) wandered around the fairgrounds most of the time, stopping for fried cheese and sweet tea and eventually spending our night hanging out "behind the scenes" with a Carney!

My mom and I went to run errands one day and we ended up having the best time, stopping at a few Tampa culinary institutions, including Bo's Ice Cream and Faedo's for Cuban bread and devil crabs.
The sad spot in March for me was that my guinea pig, Barry Goldstein died. I felt silly being upset about this, but he was like a dog for me, and actually little companion. He was well-known among my friends and had been through a lot with me.
March did end on a happy note for me though! First there was St. Patrick's Day. I got up early and headed over to Allie's place in Channelside to spend the day doing things with her as my wingman. We rode the trolley downtown to Curtis Hixon Park where they had dyed the river green and there were supposed to be lots of activities going on, but it was kind of lame. We drank some beers, watch dogs played soccer, then wandered around downtown for a bit. The Florida State Thespian competition was going on so there were lots of theater geeks wandering around which both provided entertainment, but also made me nostalgic and realize how freaking old I am because I was doing that same thing TEN years ago!
We ended up heading back to Channelside where some of her friends met up with us and hanging out there for a few hours. Then we took the trolley to Ybor for the St. Pat's parade, which was probably the best parade I had been to in years due to it not being as crazy and crowded as Gasparilla and we were actually about to stand along the gate and get so many beads that they caused my neck to hurt!
We met up with some more of her friends and went to Reservoir Bar, Gaspar's Grotto, and finally ended up at Game Time around 2 am. It ended up being about a six hour day of partying, but it was so much fun!
We round out the month with the most exciting new of all: I moved!! I found these amazing, brand new apartments downtown that I fell in love with. I originally applied for them in February and kept my fingers crossed that I would get accepted (I don't have the best credit) and I am now living in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment ON MY OWN! This is the first time I have ever living completely alone (no roommates) and although it took some getting used to, I am in love with everything about it now!
I haven't really taken many pictures of it yet because even though I had most of the furniture I needed, decorating in a sloooow process and I don't want to really show off something that's half-assed and looks like a college dorm! However I do have a picture of the cemetery (!!!!) that my place over looks (Oaklawn Cemetery, the oldest one in Tampa with lots of history) and the super sweet, light-up entertainment center/wall unit that came with my place:
And to finish this off, the rest of March's nails:
April:
We're back to slackin' on the pictures for this month again. I spent a lot of time setting up my department and being social. We started going to play trivia every Thursday night in Channelside. I slowly explored downtown on foot from my place.
On the 13th I got my first Friday the 13th tattoo! Most tattoo shops offer a deal for $13 tattoos on Friday the 13th. I intend on getting a new tattoo on everyone from now on! Layla and I got matching ones, not really on purpose, but because it was the one we both like the most from the sheet of flash that we got to choose from.
I guess there's not much else to report on for April. I've been using my Facebook timeline to help me remember everything once again. (People can bitch about timeline, but I seriously love it!) Like I said I was pretty social, it looks like I went out nearly every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night night. I ate lots of Taco Bus. I saw The Hunger Games. I apparently didn't do my nails (or just didn't take any pictures of them.)
May:
Yay! We made it! Let's see if I can remember to update daily/weekly from here on!
Are you a lady that's never really seen the Star Wars movies? Me too! I decided it would be a fun idea to host a Star Wars Ladies' Night at my place so all of us girls could finally watch the movies and understand guys! It was held on the 4th, Star Wars Day (May the Fourth be with you) and I think there was about 8 of us. As I figured, we ended up hardly watching the movie at all, instead spending the whole time drinking and socializing, and then taking a cab to Ybor to meet up with the guys. We first went to The Bricks which was hosting a Star Wars party and spent most of the night out there, and then bar-hopped a bit from there. As I never know when to call it a night, Allie, Gabi, Jeff and I went to the casino (besides the strip clubs, it's the only place to go after 3am!) where we did nothing but order $10 chicken fingers, then take a cab back home. It was a pretty amazing night.

The next night was Cinco de Mayo and due to the previous night's shenanigans, I was planning on it being and easy night, but it ended up with me being drunk at 3 am in Ybor eating pizza and only wearing one shoe. I went with Allie, Gabi and Gregg to a cantina in Channelside where I FINALLY got the fish tacos I have been craving for like 8 months! We ended up going to Ybor to meet some friends where I may have had a little too much to drink...and you know what happened from here. (About the shoe thing, it BROKE in such a fashion that I had no choice to take it off and put it in my purse! Thankfully I was wearing a maxi dress and was hopefully able to disguise my shoe-less foot.)
Oh! I also dyed the tips of my hair yellow at some point. They has since pretty much faded to blonde, but I still get some comments. :)
On Mother's Day I went with my mom and step-dad to Hula Bay where we sat out by the water and I drank margaritas and ate a massive burger.
Last Thursday, the 17th, James (Lay's boyfriend) took us a Rays game. I love doing stuff with him because he always takes care of us, even doing things like buying us each a disposable flask, a bottle of vodka, and then sodas in giant souvenir cups once we were at the game so we could drink for free! I hope I find a boyfriend that enables my drinking soon.... We had a great night, went back to my place afterwards and ate at Taco Bus then went to the Hub for a night cap. I need more fun nights during the week like that.
Yay! Let's hope my next blog post isn't another re-cap. I know I've brought that up enough in this post, so maybe that hammered being a good blogger into my brain!
